What the
heck is
Art to
Heart?

Mission: Art to Heart celebrates both our collective creativity, as well as our philanthropic culture and charitable giving.

Vision: An opportunity for any employee to share their creativity, in all its forms, Art to Heart encourages collaboration and camaraderie for both those who donate their creative talents and those who support through their participation.

Purpose: To demonstrate our support for organizations who utilize creativity to benefit those they serve (through our efforts and donations), while celebrating and reinforcing the impact of Shaker’s enterprise-wide creativity and caring culture. All proceeds will be donated to Oak Park’s local nonprofit, Hephzibah Home.

Days till virtual silent auction

Monday, February 10th!

Creators & Artists

What you can contribute:

  • Original artworks: Think paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, poetry, photography, or even a short story!
  • Commissioned pieces: Offer to create custom artwork for the winning bidder, from portraits to personalized poems.
  • Skill sharing services: Share your passion by offering a tutorial on something you love! It could be cooking, crocheting, jewelry making, or even a family recipe book. You’re welcome to host these in-person or virtually!

What we’d prefer you avoid:

  • Anything political or religious.
  • NSFW or offensive content (let’s keep it PG, folks!).
  • No references to guns, violence, or drugs (unless it’s in good spirit—like a classy mixology class or a whimsical recipe book!).

Art pieces: Paintings, framed photography, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, embroidered quotes, or even a handmade journal.

Personalized creations: A commissioned portrait, custom song, hand-lettered poem, or monthly walk to the local cheese store to pick out a delicious new cheese to try.

Skills to share: Host a “How-To” session on anything from sushi rolling and cake decorating to meditation and yoga.

Experiences: How about a coffee date to discuss a skill you’re passionate about, a day of guided hiking, or a private dance lesson?

Creative how-tos: A mini e-book of family recipes, a guide on organizing or decorating spaces, or a fun class on photography basics.

Still not sure what to make? Email us at A2H@shaker.com for more ideas!

1. Fill out our form to let us know you want to participate and what you’re thinking of creating

Here, you’ll give us all the initial details, like:

  • Your Name & Department
  • Contact Info (so we can reach you about your masterpiece!)
  • Description: What’s your creation all about? (Feel free to hype it up!)

2. Approval notification within one week

Once reviewed, we’ll confirm that your idea for a submission has been accepted and provide any additional instructions, like drop-off details or display notes.

3. All final creations or art must be provided by the deadline: Monday, February 3, 2025

This gives us time to showcase them in the auction catalog! Don’t worry. If your submission is something that gets created after being bid on, we just need your submission form fully filled out.

4. Mark Your Calendar for Auction Day

  • Auction opens with bids: Monday, February 10th
  • Bidding closes, and winners will be announced at a fun event via livestream: Tuesday, February 12th. (Time TBD.)

Giving back

Who they are: Hephzibah Home is a local nonprofit in Oak Park dedicated to supporting children as they heal from trauma and grow into confident, empowered individuals.

What they do: They provide comprehensive therapeutic support, including creative therapies like art, music, and movement, to help children develop essential skills and self-expression.

Why we love them: In the spirit of February, the month of the heart, we’re inspired by Hephzibah’s mission to heal and uplift children through creativity. Just like art, their work opens doors to imagination, strength, and healing—perfectly aligning with our Art to Heart vision and commitment to giving back.

FAQs

Art has many forms: you can donate items such as a service (dance class, tour guide, cooking recipes). If none of that resonates, you can participate as a bidder in the auction. You can just be a bidder, just an art contributor, or both.

Monday, February 10: Announce on Huddle, open bidding on the auction site
Wednesday, February 12: Bidding closes at 2pm CT, livestream in office on Thursday, Feb. 13th at 3:30pm CT to announce winners.

We encourage all employees to get involved, regardless of location! The auction will be virtual, and the livestream will allow remote employees to tune in to the event.

Shaker will cover all shipping and handling expenses.

If the artist and bidder are in the same location, you can arrange to give the item in person instead of shipping.

Refer to the Contributor instructions on the website.

We will send out a link to the auction website and will announce on Huddle when it goes live.
