On our second-to-last day in Amboseli National Park, Kenya, my husband, Eric, and I set out for an afternoon game drive with our guide, Joseph (@chege_guide). With just the three of us in the vehicle, we ventured toward the dry lake bed in search of elephants.
As the sun began to set, I captured this shot of a small elephant herd walking in a line across the vast, open landscape. I was drawn to the composition—their path intersecting with a vehicle track, the distant mountains framing the scene, and the stark contrast between the drought-weary earth and the brilliant blue sky.
What this photo can’t capture is the profound silence of the park, where the only sounds came from the animals and the occasional hum of our vehicle as we followed the elephants from a respectful distance. Despite their size, elephants move with an almost eerie quietness—a humbling reminder of their grace in the wild.
