Earrings with Nana Ida’s Aqua Beads
Donated By: Karen Grotto
These handmade, sterling silver earrings feature aqua beads from my Nana Ida’s jewelry collection. She loved jewelry. To her it was wearable art. Every piece had a story about how it came into her life—from gifts given to her from loved ones to her travels locally and around the world, department stores and boutiques. When she passed, I inherited a lot of her collection. I proudly wear it and sometimes deconstruct it to make new creations for my family. Her spirit lives on in my art and she’d be overjoyed that these earrings have been made for my Shaker family’s support of Hephzibah Home. I hope these bring you the joy that I know the necklace they came from brought her.
